We are switching over to using Yahoo Groups because our group is getting too large and it will be easier for you to communicate amongst yourselves.  We can now send emails about people needing trailering, have lost equipment, etc.  You'll also be able to edit your email address, add friends, or take yourself off at any time.  If you do not receive an invitation to join the group by tomorrow, please let me know.

We had a great clinic this weekend with Amy Keith, Paul Johnson and Kiki Pantaze on basic skills and umpire techniques.  At the beginning of the meeting I went over important changes your board has implemented over the winter.  They are:
1. Club Chief Umpire- This is a new position created by the Board.  The individual's responsibilities include overseeing all umpiring at games & practices.  They will carry a whistle at all times and can stop play/practice at anytime if things are getting out of hand.  This will be great since we have a handful of new umpires and now the Chief Umpire can stop play from the sidelines if necessary.  The board has nominated Brian Beall to be our Club's Chief Umpire.

2.  As I mentioned before the Yahoo Group will be the newest form of communication for our Polocrosse Club.  Please be sure to accept the invitation so you are apart of the new group.

3.  The board also spent considerable time discussing appropriate/ inappropriate behavior of our adult/youth players.   As a result every member will be expected to sign a Code of Conduct form found on the website.  Some of the disciplinary actions are outlined on that sheet but ultimately any inappropriate behavior will be addressed by your board members.

4.  According to rumors in the APA, Nationals will be changing locations from Aspen Colorado to Loveland, Colorado.  Regardless of which location it is, this is the closest that nationals has ever been to us and may ever be.  Last year we had 4 teams go and I hope to have just as many going again this year!  Nationals is scheduled for Labor Day Weekend.

Important Upcoming Events:

1. Iowa is having their tournament the first weekend in June.  Please let me know if you'd like to attend so we can work out teams.  This is a great chance to support their club but also get good experience for you and your horse.  Anyone/everyone is welcome to participate.  If you want to go, I'll find you a team just let me know.

2. Everything is in full swing for our 4th of July tournament.  Make sure to mark your calendars.  Like last year, this will be the premier tournament & event for Minnesota in 2008.

1.  As you will all remember Polocrosse has been formerly approved as a recognized sport with the Minnesota High School Equestrian Association.  There were some costs involved with bringing this to fruition and I think it's important to let you all know that the American Polocrosse Association has agreed to cover all costs associated with this.  Thank you to the APA!!

2. Our May Beginner/Umpire Clinic appears to be getting bigger.  Amy Keith has agreed to do our Umpire Clinic and help coordinate a Youth Development Practice in conjunction.  What does this mean? We'll have a handful of the APA's top youth players in MN/WI, and those interested in trying out for the U16/U21 teams will have GREAT exposure!  Not to mention the Youth players will be able to help with the Beginner Clinic.  As a result we should be able to accommodate any number of clinic participants.  David Brooks will be coming to coordinate the Youth Development Team practices, and we're also waiting on confirmation from a 2007 World Cup Player to also be the head clinician for the beginner clinic.  This will be a BIG weekend!!

Last year we had a great tournament, but this year's definitely outshined 2006.  Between the fireworks Friday night, all the new faces & players, and great prizes, I really have to say we put on an amazing event.  Thank you to everyone who put in the hard work especially Sam, Todd & Steve with field setup, Heidi & Chamberlins with marketing and sponsorships, Renee & Michelle all the organizing and show secretary activities, you make us look good.

**Most Important**  As you all may be aware of Nutrena was a HUGE sponsor for our event and is a big reason the costs were so low but the prizes were so great.  Please visit www.nutrenaworld.com and go to the Contact Us page to tell them how much we appreciate their sponsorship of the MN Extreme Polocrosse Club.  We would like to gain their support again next year, and this will help us do just that.  Thanks!

Also in case you didn't get an opportunity to look at pictures you can visit www.actionmemories.com

July 14/15 we had planned to go to Hinckley for a playday with that group, but it has been canceled.  I will be having a practice at my farm 10am Saturday the 14th instead.

July 21st, the Saturday of our next winery weekend, is the deadline if you wish to attend Nationals Labor Day Weekend in North Carolina.

TENTATIVE teams and divisions for the June Tournament have been made and emailed out.  We are getting 3 or more new players at our clinic this weekend so if any of them want to come to our tournament the teams may end up changing slightly. The confirmed schedule, teams & divisions will go out Monday morning. Remember Coggins will be checked upon arrival!

Anyone interested in riding in the demonstration Friday afternoon/evening please let me know.  The Chateau St. Croix Winery & Vineyard is hosting a $100,000+ "Trend Wedding" featured by Minnesota Monthly.  I need 6 junior players and 6 fast paced players.  Please let me know if you are interested in participating.  You have a good possibility of making it into the Magazine!

I'll see a good handful of you at the winery this weekend for the Dori & Daniel Clinic.  To everyone else look for my next email Monday.

The Horse Expo is now over and I can confidentally say that it was a success!  Thanks to the volunteers Mareks, Samuelsons, Sam, Heidi, Knaebles, Goods & Herzogs!  We did a great job spreading the word about our beginner clinics in May and I expect a strong showing.

So as many of you know Kristi, Heidi, and I went to Texas on the 3rd/4th for the Jon Weber Classic. We played C-grade and took second. Only got a couple pictures for you to check out here.

Also, Kristi is VERY proud to announce that Nutrena has agreed to be a 2007 Sponsor for the Minnesota Extreme!!  They have generously agreed to donate $1,000 to help offset costs of our tournament and allow us to purchase other much needed equipment such as matching saddle pads for our traveling teams.  THANK YOU NUTRENA!
